For durability you can't beat this set of 3 aluminium spacers, which give you the most handy sizes for most bookbinding jobs. We use the 8 x 12 spacer all the time when making up covers.
Each rod is 255mm long, stamped with the sizes for 6 x 10, 4 x 15 and 8 x 12mm.
