Flat paper folder, shaped to a natural curve with a long straight edge. Hand made from eucalypt, beech or perspex, all of which work very well. Other materials may follow as they become available.
The folder is about 100mm long and up to 60mm wide, with a beveled straight edge for the hard work of creasing. We've tested these out while folding light card and they work beautifully.
The curved shape fits comfortably and allows you to apply plenty of pressure with your thumb when making the crease without cramping your hand.
Our sawmill operator warned about the springy nature of eucalypt wood, and how it twists while being cut, but we have found that the natural bow in some of these eucalypt folders actually helps. All wooden folders are finished with a wax treatment to enhance the grain and protect the material.
