This nifty cradle is designed to hold the signature for your book while you make holes for stitching. The jig - available either in wood or aluminium - has holes about 15mm apart so you can make your own spacing to suit the job. The cradle will be supplied with the wooden jig, but If you want the aluminium jig, please note that in your order.
This cradle can accommodate a book pageset 300mm long. As shown in the photos, simply fold the book signature or page set, butt it up against the fence, place the pre-drilled jig in position and make the holes you need for stitching. The 3mm wide gap at the base of the cradle will allow the awl to go right through the page set.
The present batch of cradles are made of matai and finished with a coat of timber dressing to protect the wood and enhance the grain. As these cradles are hand made there may be some minor imperfections such as the odd chip or indentation in the wood.
Supplied with an awl, and the jig of your choice. The cradle in the photos is made of oregon and this batch has already sold out.
Overall dimensions: 340 x 70 x 80mm.
