The Auckland Journals of Vicesimus Lush, 1850-63, edited by Alison Drummond, offer a vivid, firsthand account of early colonial life through the eyes of an Anglican minister.
Vicesimus Lush arrived in New Zealand from England in 1850 and served as a clergyman in the Auckland region until 1863.
He kept the regular journal primarily as a correspondence tool to stay connected with family back in England.
The text was later curated and published, capturing an intimate and unvarnished look at the realities of frontier life.
This edition published 1971 by Pegasus Press. In very good condition.
