Rex Forrester, bushman and hunter since the early age of twelve, went into the safari business in 1956 after fourteen years' experience as a Government employed and independent deer hunter, and has since been conducting sporting tours for scores of shooters and fishermen from Australia, Britain, Europe, and the United States.
These whirlwind sporting tours left Rex with little time for writing, so he teamed up with journalist Neil Illingworth to write the book. Half the book deals with Rex Forrester's hunting apprenticeship, the latter half describes the safari business from the inside.
