This novel, set in the tiny West Coast mining town of Blackball, is the story of an epic mine strike which took place at the turn of the 20th century. From this strike, won hands down by the young Bob Semple, Paddy Webb, and the lesser-known Pat Hickey, emerged the Federation of Labour and, eventually, the Labour Party.
