WILLIAM ANDERSON did not set foot in Fiordland until 1950 when he handed over his Southland farm to his sons, and with the help of his wife May and got a job running the Quintin Huts on the Milford Track and pioneered new tracks from Quintin. This is a history of the area from one who knew it best. Bill Anderson has done more to promote, develop and to conserve 'The most wonderful walk in the world' than most people could do in a life time.

It is a stirring tale, from the arduous expeditions of Sutherland, Mackinnon and Quill to the opening of a hotel at Milford and the modem era of airstrips, helicopters, and real home comforts along the Milford Track.

Illustrated throughout with monochrome images, maps on end papers.

A5, Hardback in very good condition with a dustjacket that has some stains from tape at the top and bottom edges. 2nd edition 1974.
