This is a home made book press with an unknown date. The platen on this model is 255 x 255mm, and the daylight gap is 130mm. The top platen lifts out of the way while putting books in place, and it can then be positioned under the screw thread.
This press is supplied with two pieces of 3mm grey card to help flatten out any bumps in the platen. They can be secured to the press with double sided tape.
We have removed all the grease from the screw thread and used silicone as the lubricant for the thread.
This is a wonderful addition to a bindery for its convenience in pressing newly bound or restored books flat. You'll also find other uses as well - these presses are great for pressing flowers, making padded notebooks, making firm creases in folded pagesets and making thick book boards.
Made of mild steel and repainted in black enamel, this press is not very heavy and within the normal limit for courier deliveries. Delivery to West Coast centres and some South Island locations may be free of charge, but long haul destinations in the South and inter-island locations will require delivery by courier. Unfortunately we cannot offer the free delivery option at checkout, so simply process the order and we will refund your freight costs.
