Writing under the pseudonym of A.L.O.E. (A Lady of England), Charlotte Maria Tucker was one of the most popular and prolific authors of Christian fiction in the 1800s. In this book she draws on notes from the Christian Missionary Society and a wealth of personal letters to give an account of the inspiring and successful work by Samuel Marsden and his team of missionaries in New Zealand from 1814 to about 1850. In her later life, the author worked as a missionary in India, where she continued to write and inspire the faith of thousands.
