The desktop book press is a standard piece of equipment in all binderies, and these two  models are designed to handle most jobs for the home or commercial bookbinder.  The press closes down with four bolts to hold a book up to 70mm thick.

The smaller press is suitable for an A5-sized book, with dimensions of 300mm long, 250mm wide, The boards are up to 20mm thick and made from recycled timber, in this case, rimu (New Zealand red pine). The wood is finished with a timber dressing of beeswax and vegetable oil to protect the surface and enhance the grain.

The larger press can handle books up to 340mm long and 70mm thick. Overall dimensions are 400mm x 300mm. The plates are made of 20mm custom wood, or natural timber such as pine, rimu or mahogany when available.

Also on offer is a rimu press slightly narrower than the A5 press - an ideal tool for making pressed flowers. Two bolts only, but three platens.

Shipped fully assembled and ready to use.  As these tools are hand made there may be the odd imperfection such a chip or indentation in the wood. The photograph is representative only, as each press has different grain and variations in colour.
